Omaeda has a large body and (also loud) mouth, and comes across as arrogant and dull. His skill level as a shinigami is unknown, though there is speculation that he got his position as lieutenant because of his family's connections. He also seems to be a coward.
Omaeda likes to eat abura senbei (fried rice crackers) wherever he is. His captain has been known to beat him up when crumbs from the senbei fall on her hair. He is also seen several times picking his nose.
Omaeda comes from a rich family. As typical of many rich families, he has a long name, Marechiyo Yoshiayamenosuke Nikk��tar��emon omaeda. However, no one seems to use it.
His father is named Marenoshin, mother is Mareka, older sister is Maremi, younger brother is Marejir��sabur��, and younger sister is Mareyo. Of his family, all closely resemble him except for his younger sister. Mareyo is more normal looking and sweet, which shocks Kira Izuru, Renji Abarai, and Shuhei Hisagi. omaeda thinks his younger sister is ugly.
As the Bount enter Soul Society, Omaeda and his squad are quickly dispatched by Koga Gowa.
